My Love

Globalisation has been part of our lives for quite some time and as the world becomes one, so do the products that we consumers enjoy. Being overseas and still able to enjoy familiar brands is one of the greatest joy ever. One such brand that I'm totally infatuated with is none other than Starbucks. Back in Malaysia, I used to be a frequent patron of Starbucks, enjoying my sip of Signature Hot Chocolate and the wide array of Frappuccinos without fail at least once a week. Aside from the range of drinks offered, the best thing about Starbucks is the comfortable and soothing environment. With all the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the exact relaxation which I'm always craving for.
Being two months without my favourite beverage is indeed dreadful. Hence, I decided to step into my favourite outlet once again yesterday. Sadly, I didn't manage to spend my time there due to time constraint. However, the cold weather did not stop me from having the chilly Mocha Frappuccino while walking all the way home. I'm proud to say that I'm in love again. It's exactly the same feeling like how it used to be and I'm a happy boy again.

By the way, Happy Halloween peeps!

P.S. It will be even better if Green Tea Frappucinno is available here but oh well, I guess I shouldn't be too demanding. =D

Of Not-So-Stressful Life and Constant Pressure

As our first examination is drawing near, naturally, the stress level increases. Let's not talk about my miserable study progress here as it is not the main point I would like to highlight. Upon witnessing the breakdown of one of my friends, I begin to ponder some serious issue in my mind. Of course, the critical issue here is whether we should actively instill a constant stress level in our mind (by actively reminding ourselves every single second that we are here with a mission and we MUST ensure that the mission will be accomplished by hook or by crook) or should take a more relaxed approach in completing the mission (by progressing with the right pace and keeping ourselves on track with the syllabus from time to time). Personally, I feel that I'm more of the latter (despite not being exactly the same - but then again, let's not dig into that matter deeply). It is undeniable that constant pressure will serve as motivation to push us further, that is, IF the optimum amount of pressure is applied. Naturally, this will lead to another doubt - what exactly is the right amount off pressure to be considered? To be honest, such a subjective and debatable question might garner different responses from different individuals. Rather than spending time just to find a solution for a ridiculous chicken-and-egg question, I feel that it is better to take a more relaxed approach in handling the issue (maybe a little too relaxed in my case). With too much constant pressure, we might end up feeling helpless. We might reach a point where we feel so useless that we will never ever be able to solve the problem.

Meanwhile, for the rest of us who prefer a more relaxed approach, we need to know what we should achieve at the end of the day. However, there is no need to constantly apply the unnecessary amount of pressure. It is best not to think about the irrelevant bunch of "what ifs" (e.g "What if I'm unable to solve the problem?", "What if things doesn't achieve the result that I wish for?" and yaddah 3x). In the first place, who are we to predict the outcome of things that have not happened yet. We are just an ordinary human being living in this extraordinary universe. One thing for sure, given the right resources/environment and with sufficient amount of effort invested, we will be able to maximise our chances of achieving things that we have been keeping our fingers crossed for since what it seems like forever. As for the rest of the things, let's just say that we will see what fate has stored for us.

Hence, to everyone who is sitting for any kind of examination, all the best and may we succeed in whatever we hope to achieve.

Halloween Extravaganza

I'm back from my first Halloween Party. It's one of the events organized by the Malaysian Students' Society of Manchester, which gathers most of the Asian (or Malaysian) around the city. Despite the lack of people in my contact lists, I was feeling extremely excited for the party as it is my first Halloween celebration and I had prepared a set of costume for the party. This is also my first time wearing a fancy (or maybe not so) costume as well. After having a mind boggling shopping session, my final choice for this year's look is a set of cowboy costume. Amazingly, I'm in love with the look even until now, especially the red bandana. It looks so cool when fully equipped with my ala Wild Wild West gun. To think about it, I realise that I've never worn a bandana previously in my entire life, whats moreover for a party like this.

Nevertheless, I wish I could have expanded my social network here, and know more people around. It will definitely be merrier and louder when partying in a big group. Until then, I've to start to be less strict and show more of my friendly side. I'm drop dead tired now but I'm feeling extremely positive as I've gained so much experience in just one night.

Too Little, Too Late

In the process of churning out happier entries, I can't help but to feel a little emotional, which explains the existence of this particular entry. The abundance of decisions in life tend to make me wonder how many right ones have I made. There is this particular decision which I've regretted so much even up till today. I've always wondered how my life would be if I had chosen another path. The current path has proved to be disastrous (maybe the word is a little too dramatic) but whatever it is, I keep telling myself that perhaps I will be happier (and more successful) if only I've opted for the road not taken. I do not know what else I can do now to correct the entire situation, but given a chance, I'll definitely attempt everything I can to make things right. If only the phrase "if only" is not just a mere fantasy, there might not be so much disappointments and regrets in life afterall.

Silence Is Golden

Have you ever feel not like talking? It just randomly struck me today. From the moment I woke up, I didn't feel like talking at all. Well, perhaps this might sound a little like pre-menstrual syndrome but maybe I'm too mentally exhausted to talk. There are so many things bothering my mind one after another and it's really crucial for me to clear them up before it's too late. Meanwhile, Monday is going to be over in a few hours' time which means that there are 2 more days to go before weekend is here again. Cheers peep!

Random Rantings

Every once in a while, I'll have the strong urge to blog. I want to have a trail of what I've done in life to allow me to reminisce the past in the future. However, at the same time, my laziness has discouraged me to do so. It might be just me but as we grow up, time tends to fly swiftly, refusing to wait for anyone. As days passed, without realising, I've been in this foreign land for nearly 2 months. On the attempt of trying to recapture what I've done for the past few weeks, I realise how mundane my life has been. It's been so monotonous both academically and non-academically that I know something has to be done before things get horrid. Hence, while I'm trying to improve myself academically (which is another tough agenda, but let's not get me started on that), I know that I've to explore and set on a journey while I'm still here. Chances are, we might only be here for another 9 more months and it will be tough to set our feet here again, at least in the near future. There are so many places which I wish to venture and there are so many things that I wish to see. I do not want to lock myself in my tiny little room for another 9 months to come, being absolutely clueless about the outside world.

The Journey of Potato

The beginning of the month of October marks the beginning of this blog for me. I'm being bitten by the blogging bug again. Blogging is no longer a stranger to me as I'd previously blogged. This time, it's the motivation that is going to determine how long am I going to blog again before my passion turns into a major boredom (which I hope will not happen ultimately). Of course, I would like to make this last for the longest time ever as it serves as my diary at least, to reminisce my humble journey in the future. Living in this world is an awesome adventure and it's essential to experience the most out of everything. Let the journey begins.
